The Jumping Stilts Come Tumbling Down

There is a story circulating in the world of jumping stilts that a man purchased a heavier spring as he know he could achieve more height and more speed out of his stilts. He was right, but unfortunately right, doesn’t make one prepared for what might happen, as this gentleman found out when he went up higher than expected and then came tumbling down doing damage to his right knee. It would seem this gentleman thought he could do it all, and he could, until he crashed and ended up in the hospital for surgery.

So, one would think the moral of this story would have been not to buy what you cannot handle, but the true moral of this story is to always research and know what you can expect when buying something that is extreme and can injure you, when used incorrectly. Jumping stilts have been around now for years and years, but it is only recently that they have gained in popularity. Today, everyone wants to buy jumping stilts for an assortment of reasons. Some people, men and women, want to use them for exercise, some for agility, and some for extreme challenges, but whatever the reason they are using them, if they do it safely, they will not suffer the fate of this other poor gentleman.

If you buy jumping stilts without research, you will probably not be happy with the results, so research and knowledge will never hurt. You can research these products at most sporting stores, retail stores, some discount stores, and on the internet using videos, articles, and much more. You will always find plenty of negative articles as well as many positive articles, but in the end, it is up to you to decide if jumping stilts are for you. These jumping stilts sit about seventeen inches from the ground, where you step into them, which is a long way up and requires balance if you have not used them before. You might be best buying them at a place where you can have someone show you how to mount then and what you can do with them, and spot you if required.

If you buy jumping stilts, you should buy all the protection wear at the same time as well, because it doesn’t do you any good after you have tried the stilts and fallen, as is the case with the gentleman above. You will require a helmet wrist guards, kneepads, and elbow pads at the very least and a little rear end padding is sometimes worth considering as well. Although seventeen inches doesn’t seem a long way up, it is if you fall and we seem to always land on our rumps.
